Racine Brussels is delighted to announce the appointment of two new partners, Lieven Van Besien and Stijn Claeys.
• With Lieven Van Besien Racine lawyers appoints in house talent. Lieven joined Racine in 2005 will continue to strengthen the liability and insurance law department as partner. Lieven gained extensive expertise and knowledge in liability and torts law, construction law, work related accidents, bodily harm and personal injuries and road traffic legislation. Lieven is Substitute judge in the Police Court of Vilvoorde since 2013.
• Stijn Claeys joined Racine in 2016 as counsel to develop his retail practice. Stijn assists national and international clients in rolling out and managing a distribution network and is specialized in distribution and competition law. Stijn’s practice complements the full service approach Racine offers tot undertakings. Stijn obtained a PhD at the University of Leuven with his dissertation on the franchise agreement and regularly teaches, lectures and publishes on these topics. Stijn is a recognized expert of the Belgian Franchise Federation.
As of January first 2018 Bertrand Asscherickx will retire after a rich career. Racine thus has to part with one of its ‘founding fathers’. Bertrand was one of the architects of Racine Lawyers, one of Brussels’ first law firm associations and also acted as Solicitor General of the Brussels bar for several years. Racine wants to convey its heartfelt gratitude for his continued efforts for the firm for over 42 years.
