C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous vous informons du décès ce 18 août 2022 de notre très estimé associé, collègue et ami Stefaan AERTS.

Fin de l’année dernière, les médecins lui ont diagnostiqué un cancer de l’œsophage. « Ce sera probablement mon affaire la plus difficile », disait-il. Comme vous le connaissez, il « ne visait rien de moins que la victoire ».

Hélas, malgré sa soif de vivre et sa volonté d’acier, il n’a pas pu gagner cette bataille inégale.

Les mots ne suffisent pas pour décrire à quel point nous sommes touchés par ce décès et nos pensées vont en premier lieu à ses filles Eloïse et Noémie, à ses parents et beaux-parents, à ses sœurs, beaux-frères et belle-sœur, mais aussi à ses nombreux amis qui ont été très proches de Stefaan tout au long de cette période éprouvante.

Stefaan a commencé sa carrière d’avocat au sein de notre cabinet. Par son approche passionnée et son dévouement personnel, Stefaan est très rapidement devenu l’une des forces motrices de Racine. Il était un juriste chevronné, un plaideur doué et un conseiller fiable. Mais par-dessus tout, il était un collègue, un partenaire et un ami dévoué.

Stefaan nous manquera énormément. A sa demande expresse, l’équipe de Racine est prête à assister ses clients, qu’il accompagnait, pour bon nombre d’entre eux, depuis déjà de nombreuses années en leur prodiguant des conseils juridiques éclairés. Nous reléverons le défi de suivre les dossiers de Stefaan avec son même engagement et sa même expertise.

Tous les collaborateurs, avocats et associés de Racine sont énormément touchés par cette perte et le cabinet ne pourra jamais combler le vide que laisse Stefaan. Nous sommes très reconnaissants pour toutes les années durant lesquelles nous avons eu le plaisir de travailler avec Stefaan. Son humour et ses traits d’esprit, ses conversations « droit au but » et ses remarques judicieuses resteront à jamais gravés dans notre mémoire.

Nous tenons à remercier chacun et chacune pour les nombreuses marques de sympathie que nous avons reçues. Les confrères témoignent de son expertise et de la connaissance approfondie de ses dossiers. Les clients se souviennent avec gratitude de son attitude positive et de son expérience.  Nous ne manquerons pas de regrouper tous ces souvenirs et témoignages et de les remettre à ses filles et à sa famille. Un registre de condoléances est également disponible ici.

Barbara François a plus de dix ans d’expérience en droit social et droit de la sécurité sociale belge et transfrontalier et est spécialisée dans tous les domaines liés aux ressources humaines.

Avant de rejoindre Racine, Barbara a été Manager des ressources humaines durant plus de deux ans, étant responsable de la Belgique et du Luxembourg, au sein de la plus grande chaîne de fitness en Europe. Auparavant, elle a travaillé dans le département de droit social d’un cabinet d’avocats international.

Barbara a obtenu son diplôme avec grande distinction en tant que Licenciée en Droit à l’Université de Gand (2007), avec spécialisation en droit social.

Au sein de Racine Avocats, Barbara se consacrera principalement à l’assistance d’une clientèle tant belge qu’internationale dans le domaine du droit social et du droit de la sécurité sociale et représentera également la clientèle dans des litiges devant les tribunaux du travail.

Rubben Lindemans possède une grande expertise en matière de droit de l’insolvabilité. Rubben assiste régulièrement des entreprises dans le cadre de restructurations nationales et internationales. Dans le cadre de la restructurations de sociétés, Rubben conseille également les clients lors de transactions commerciales, financières et immobilières et il représente les clients en cas de litiges et procédures , tant devant les tribunaux que devant les tribunaux arbitraux. Il possède également une expertise particulière en matière de droit des saisies et droit d’exécution.

Rubben a obtenu son diplôme à la KU Leuven en 2009 et a ensuite obtenu un diplôme en gestion générale à la Vlerick Management School. Il a été assistant à la KUL en droit des sociétés et en droit économique de 2012 à 2016, ensuite, depuis 2019, il est collaborateur scientifique bénévole à l’Institut du droit de l’insolvabilité. Rubben est membre d’INSOL et du Centre belge d’arbitrage et de médiation CEPANI.
